The split down the middle
Rokeby Road and the Hay Street end carry the commercial side: consulting suites, professional practices, small agencies, specialist shops. Step off it and Subiaco turns into older character housing, with newer apartments filling in around the redeveloped land near the old oval site.
The two halves ask for completely different things, and it is worth knowing which one you are in before you choose a machine.
The consulting room and the small practice
A practice with three or four desks has a specific set of problems. The machines have to match, so that everybody is looking at the same thing. They have to be reliable, because appointments do not wait. And whatever is on them matters, so the machines being replaced cannot simply be put out with the rubbish.

The household side
The residential half of Subiaco is older housing with more room in it than the flats closer to the river. That means desktops are genuinely practical here, and a desktop with a decent screen is better value than a laptop of the same price.
What we get asked for: the family machine that does homework, photos, banking and streaming. A second computer so two people are not sharing one. A proper setup for somebody now working from home three days a week.

What refurbished means here
The machine is opened on the bench, cleaned out and checked over. Worn or failing parts are replaced. The drive is wiped properly — not reset — and the operating system goes on fresh.
If the storage is slow or small it gets an SSD, because that single change is what makes an older machine feel current. If the memory is tight it gets more.
Then it is tested as a whole machine and goes out with 90 days warranty, the same 90 days that covers hardware repairs and any part we fit. What the warranty covers
Where the stock comes from
Corporate fleets in the city, mostly. Office tenancies replace their computers every few years and the machines that come out have spent their whole lives on a desk indoors.
Business hardware is specified to run for years and built so parts can be swapped. That is why a three-year-old office machine beats a three-year-old cheap home one at the same money, and it is the entire reason this trade works.
Stock, price and timing
We do not publish prices. What is on the bench changes every week, and a list would be wrong by Friday.

The machine you are replacing
Trade it in and it comes off the price of the new one. It does not need to be working. We will look at it and give you a real figure rather than a guess over the phone.

Sometimes the answer is not a new machine

The workshop is in Bayswater. There is no showroom in Subiaco.
