The river makes a difference
South Perth is close to the city as the crow flies and further than people expect by road. The ferry from Mends Street and the bridges are the practical links, and that shapes something simple: nobody here wants to make three trips to sort out a computer.
So we do as much as possible in one go. You tell us what the machine is for, we quote it firmly within 24 hours, and it comes to you set up and ready to use rather than needing an afternoon of fiddling once it arrives.
Two kinds of household
The foreshore apartments. Small desks, good views, and no room for a tower. All-in-ones do particularly well here — the whole computer sits behind the screen, there is one power lead, and the desk stays clear. Laptops for anyone who wants to work on the balcony.
The older streets behind them. More room, more desks, and more households where one computer serves everybody. A desktop with a proper screen makes more sense here, and it is better value than a laptop at the same price.

Set up before it reaches you
This matters more in South Perth than almost anywhere on our patch, because we get a lot of enquiries from people who do not want a project.
The operating system goes on fresh as part of the refurbishment, which means we can have the machine ready to use when you get it rather than handing over something that needs setting up. Tell us what you need on it when you ring and it will be there.
You are not expected to configure anything, look anything up or work anything out. That is the whole point of buying from a workshop.
What refurbished means on our bench
Opened, cleaned out, checked over. Worn or failing parts replaced. The drive wiped properly and the operating system installed fresh. An SSD fitted where the storage is slow or small — that is the change that makes an older machine feel new — and more memory where it is tight.
Then the whole machine is tested, and it goes out with 90 days warranty on it. Hardware repairs and any parts we fit carry the same 90 days. What the warranty covers
Where the machines come from
Across the water. The office towers in the city replace their computer fleets every few years, and those machines are three or four years old, well specified and have lived their whole lives on a desk indoors.
Business hardware is built to last several years and to be repaired rather than thrown out. That is the quality difference, and it is why a refurbished office machine is a better buy than a cheap new one at the same price.
Stock, price and timing
Nothing is listed here, because the bench changes weekly and a price list would be out of date almost immediately.
Ring us and tell us what the machine is for. We come back with a firm price within 24 hours, nothing starts until you agree it, and most jobs are finished in two to three days.
The old machine
Bring it in and it comes off the price of the new one. It does not have to be working — a laptop with a dead battery or a failed drive is still worth something.
Say so first if there is anything on it you still want. Photos are the one people forget until afterwards, and every drive gets wiped properly. Device trade-in
When we will tell you not to buy
If the machine you have is only a few years old and the problem is that it has become slow, buying another one is the expensive answer. It is nearly always storage or memory, both of which can be changed, with everything left exactly where it is.
We would rather do the smaller job honestly than sell you something you did not need. SSD and memory upgrades
Getting it to you
The workshop is in Bayswater. There is no showroom in South Perth, and given the river between us, ring before you make any trip and we will work out the practical side properly.
