Everything on this site is sold out of a Bayswater workshop, and Maylands is the suburb over the boundary from it. That makes it the easiest place we deal with.
It matters mostly for one reason: warranties are only worth having if you can actually use them. A 90-day warranty on a machine you would have to post interstate is close to decoration. A 90-day warranty when the bench is a few minutes away is a real thing.
What Maylands looks like
Maylands sits on a bend of the river with Eighth Avenue as its high street, and it has an unusual housing mix for an inner suburb. A lot of flats — the walk-up blocks built through the 1960s and 70s are everywhere here — alongside older character homes and newer infill.
Flats mean small desks, which is the same constraint the city has. Character homes mean spare rooms, which is a different one. We get both conversations in the same week.

Laptops
Close them and they are gone. The obvious answer where the desk is also the dining table.
All-in-ones
The computer lives behind the screen. One power lead, nothing under the desk, and it looks like a monitor when it is off. Good if you want a real screen and keyboard without losing the room.
Small form factor desktops
Shoebox-sized, sit behind the monitor, easier to upgrade later than an all-in-one.

Machines that suit a house
If there is a room with a desk in it, a proper desktop is better value than a laptop at the same price — a bigger screen, a keyboard you can type on for hours, and parts that can be changed later instead of the whole machine replaced.
This is the setup we recommend for anyone working from home more than a couple of days a week.
What we do to every machine
Opened on the bench, cleaned out, checked over. Worn or failing parts replaced. The drive wiped properly, not reset, and the operating system installed fresh.
An SSD fitted where the storage is slow or small. More memory where it is tight. Then the whole machine is tested and goes out with 90 days warranty, the same 90 days that covers hardware repairs and any part we fit. What the warranty covers
Where the stock comes from
The city, a few minutes down the line. Office tenancies there replace their computers every few years, and business hardware was specified to run for years and built so parts could be swapped.
That is why a three-year-old ex-office machine is a better buy than a cheap new one at the same price, and it is the whole reason this trade exists.
Price, stock and timing
There is no price list, because what is on the bench changes weekly.
Ring us and tell us what the machine is for. Firm quote within 24 hours, nothing started until you agree it, and most jobs finished in two to three days.
Trading in the old one
Being close makes this easy. Bring the old machine in and it comes off the price of the new one. It does not have to be working — a cracked screen or a dead battery does not make a laptop worthless.

Before you replace anything
If the computer is only a few years old and the complaint is that it has got slow, that is almost always storage or memory rather than the machine being done. An SSD and more memory fix it for a fraction of what a replacement costs, and everything on the machine stays where it is.

Getting it to you
The workshop is in Bayswater, next door. There is no showroom in Maylands, but of everywhere we sell, this is the shortest trip.
